Frequently asked questions

The A1/A3 test has 40 multiple-choice questions and you need at least 75 % to pass. You take it online through Transportstyrelsen’s Drönarsidan, from anywhere. A2 is an extra test with 30 multiple-choice questions and the same 75 % pass mark, taken under supervision at an authorised drone school (ADS). Transportstyrelsen says the test is in Swedish only.

No. They are practice questions we wrote from the training material and the rules, not copies of Transportstyrelsen’s test. The mock exam uses the same format, so you know what to expect.

You get 1 free practice session and 1 free mock exam per certificate, without creating an account. You can replay them with the same questions to see if Drönartränaren suits you.

From 99 kr for one week of A1/A3. You can also choose 1 month or lifetime, and A2 or both certificates. Every plan is a one-time payment: no subscription and no automatic renewal.

Yes, if your drone weighs 250 grams or more. Since 1 January 2026, flying such a drone without a licence is a criminal offence. Under 250 grams you do not need a licence, but if the drone has a camera you still need an operator ID.

The A1/A3 test costs SEK 600 and A2 costs SEK 850 (SEK 600 if you have already paid for A1/A3). A retake costs SEK 600. Registering as an operator costs SEK 190, then SEK 250 a year.

A1/A3 is the basic certificate and covers most hobby flying. A2 is for flying a C2 drone (under 4 kg) close to people: at least 30 metres from uninvolved people, or 5 metres in low-speed mode. For A2 you also need to pass the A1/A3 test.

If you live in another EU/EEA country, the drone licence and operator ID from your home country are valid in Sweden, so you should not register again here. If you live outside the EU/EEA, you can apply to Transportstyrelsen for operator registration manually. Swedish local rules, such as control zones and restricted areas, apply to everyone.
