Drone registration in Sweden
In Sweden you register yourself as an operator, not each drone. Here is how it works.

Short answer
Who must register?
If you are responsible for a drone flown outdoors, you must register if the drone:
- weighs at least 250 grams,
- has a camera, audio recording or other sensor,
- can transfer more than 80 joules of kinetic energy to a person in a collision, or
- is flown in the specific category.
You do not need to register for toys, drones flown only indoors, or drones under 250 grams without a camera or sensor.
How to register
- Log in to Drönarsidan with Swedish e-ID.
- Register as an operator and pay the application fee by card or Swish.
- Mark your drones with the operator ID.
To register as a private person through the e-service, you must be at least 18 and registered as resident (folkbokförd) in Sweden. Without e-ID there is a paper form, but processing takes longer.
Marking your drone
- The operator ID must be on the drone’s body and readable without aids (other than glasses or contact lenses) when the drone is on the ground. A QR code is fine.
- If the drone is too small, the ID may in exceptional cases go inside the battery compartment.
- Program the ID into the drone if you can, so it is broadcast with the network remote ID.
- Transportstyrelsen does not send stickers; marking is up to you.
Cost
The application costs SEK 190. After that there is an annual fee of SEK 250, charged to whoever is registered on 1 January. The operator ID stays valid until you deregister, and if you deregister by 31 December you avoid the next year’s fee. See all fees.
Living outside Sweden?
If you live in another EU/EEA country, register there, not in Sweden; your operator ID is valid here. If you live outside the EU/EEA, you can apply to Transportstyrelsen for registration manually.
An operator ID and a drone licence are two different things. If the drone weighs 250 grams or more, the pilot also needs a drone licence.
